The Run Up

How Would You Describe Your Style of Videography?

Elegant, timeless, classic, unobtrusive and heartfelt.

Where are you based and how far do you travel to film weddings?

We live together in Zakynthos with our two cats; Gino and Giuseppe. We love nothing more than to travel, so we will happily head pretty much anywhere to film a beautiful love story. Most of our weddings have taken place in the UK and Zante, from April 2023 we are based full time in Zante. We foresee most of our future weddings taking place on this gorgeous island, however we are not adverse to a road trip. Our own wedding was a destination wedding so we know how important location is. Subject to travel costs we’d be more than willing to film your day, wherever you choose to tie the knot.

How do you work with photographers?

We always work with the utmost respect for photographers, ensuring we respect their space. As creatives, we love nothing more than our job. We naturally create a relaxed atmosphere, which we have found leads to a very easy, unflustered approach for us and your photographers to capture the best of you and your day.

Do you work with wedding planners in Zante?

Yes! We work alongside some of the island’s most popular wedding planners here in Zante and we are on their supplier list.

When you initially make contact with us via our booking form, there is an answer box for you to supply your planner if you have one. We always manage our bookings direct with our couples as our agreement is with you, not the planner. Rest assured, this is standard procedure and our planners know how we work.

What happens if you’ve never filmed at our venue before? Will you need to visit?

As the nature of your wedding film is about you and your story, we find that a visit to a venue isn’t necessary. We like to film you. You, as a couple, are our main focus here at Swoon Weddings. We’ve filmed in some stunning venues, which is great, but at the end of the day, we could be filming in a shed and create something timeless and heartfelt. We’ve spent over 7 years filming professionally and we’ve filmed everywhere you can think of and never had a site visit before. It just isn’t necessary. We arrive in plenty of time to have a little nosey round and get set up so you don’t need to worry. That said, if you have any thoughts/concerns with your venue and how we would cover it, we’re more than happy to talk it through with you.

Do we need to meet prior to the wedding?

We’d love to have a chat. In fact, we highly recommend it.

Our chats with our couples usually take place when we’re about 1 month to go. By this point you’ll usually have timings confirmed, etc. Therefore, we find this is the most beneficial time to get a schedule together for the big day. As we are based in Zante, we can hop on Facetime whenever suits you.

How many weddings do you film each year?

As we also manage our own business producing videos for corporate clients, we limit the number of weddings we film for 3 reasons;

  1. We’re control freaks and never delegate our work to anyone else.

  2. We pride ourselves on the high level of service to our wedding films and we like to dedicate the time to each one to give our couples the high level of quality seen on this site.

  3. We like a holiday every now and then. As you can imagine running 2 businesses leaves us with very little time to chill and although we love to work we also love some R&R!

What if you are ill on our wedding day?

We’re tough as old boots, we’ve been self-employed since we both left school so we pretty much never call in sick. In all our years filming we’ve never had to cancel a wedding. That said, in an extremely rare situation where it could happen, we have a black book of amazing contacts who we can call on. As you can imagine, having made a living from filming, we are in touch with some amazing videographers who we know we could rely on to capture your day. If you’ve got this far in our FAQ’s, it’s pretty obvious that you’re seriously considering us and we would assume one reason for that consideration is that you like our style. With that in mind, we would still create your films from our colleague’s footage to ensure you’re getting our feel, and storytelling style.

How can I book? When do we need to pay?

We’ve kept things simple here at Swoon Weddings. Once you’ve decided to book with us (yay) we will send you out all the details. Simply, a small deposit of €100 (£ equivalent) is due upon booking to secure your date. Then you can choose whatever suits you best, balance paid in cash on the morning of your wedding or BACS payment 4 weeks before your big day. We also offer a payment plan if required. More details given on booking.

With regards to any extras, we understand these may take a while to decide on as most of our couples work with planners and direct with the venue and liaising back and forth takes a while. Therefore, these can be added on up to the day before and paid for in cash on the day.

Is there a cancellation/refund policy?

You, as the client, may cancel the contract at any time prior to the event by contacting us in writing. Upon cancellation of a booking, there will be no refund of the booking deposit. We always advise our couples to have valid wedding insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances leading to cancellations.

Do you charge any additional expenses?

The price stated on our booking form is the price you pay. We’re upfront about pricing as we’ve been there. We know how much weddings cost and we know everyone needs to budget. We’re competitively priced for our standard of wedding films. Unless you ask us to stay extra as stated clearly in our Terms and Conditions

What if I’m camera shy?

Most of our couples are. It’s way more common than you think. We keep things simple here. We’re never gonna come at you and pull you here, there and everywhere to get your shot. That’s just not our vibe. We’ve had so many comments from previous couples about our ability to blend seamlessly into their day and our unobtrusive style which we’re always happy to hear, as we feel this puts everyone at ease. We want to film you at your best and when you’re relaxed and content (as you will be on one of the happiest days of your life), it’s pretty much a given that we’re gonna get the best of you.

On The Day

How many videographers will there be?

Two. And it will always be Emma and Adam. We don’t book jobs and send other videographers. We always film together. We’re a team, cheesy but true. We’ve always worked together, even in past careers. We know what shots each of us needs to get, we’re discreet and we get all the angles!

How much 'gear' will you bring?

The minimum!

We don’t want to be carting around big bags of gear, believe us! Do you have any idea how heavy that stuff is!? We each have one camera and for the ceremony and speeches there’ll be a tripod, but that’s about it. We’re all about blending in. That would be hard to do with a full cinema rig. We shoot mirrorless, which in short, means our cameras are as small but mighty. Don’t worry we won’t be coming at you with a huge shoulder mounted TV camera. That’s not our style at all. We’re discrete and we pride ourselves on not being seen. Our tagline is ‘Quietly captured, creatively produced.’ for a reason. Your wedding isn’t a film set and we don’t intend to make it one.

Can we have aerial footage?

Yes. This can be added on from our add on menu. All aerial footage is subject to location and weather restrictions.

What time do you start and finish?

This all depends on what package you have booked with us. However, if on the day you need us to stay longer, that’s fine. We can bill further per hour and invoice for this a week after your wedding. We won’t be stood there with our hands out. The pricing for this is explained in our T&C’s.

The Ever After

What will the running time of our film be?

Here at Swoon Weddings, we offer 3 packages.

Package 1, The Essentials

Arrival & Ceremony.

Wedding Highlight Film including the full ceremony.

This package focuses on the most symbolic part of your wedding; the ceremony. If you’re on a budget then this one’s for you. You’re looking at around 2 to 4 mins in length for your highlight film. The Essentials package includes coverage of your arrival, ceremony (in full as a separate video), atmosphere and bride and groom leaving for reception.

The Step-Up

Arrival, Ceremony & Reception.

  • Wedding Highlight Film featuring all of the best moments of your day.

  • Full Ceremony & Speeches on separate video files. (If Speeches are during the reception).

With the Step-Up you’re looking at the total film length to be anything from 4 to 8 mins. This is perfect for couples who aren’t having an evening reception, just an afternoon reception. If the speeches/cake cutting is taking place at this time we’ll stay and capture that. Otherwise you’re looking at arrival at ceremony location, coverage of your ceremony (in full as a separate video), general atmosphere of the day, guests arrival at reception, bride and groom arrival, speeches (if any) cutting of the cake (if any).

The All-In

Arrival, Ceremony, Reception & Evening (including first dance & Entertainment).

Wedding Highlight Film featuring all of the best moments of your day.

Full Ceremony & Speeches on separate video files.

With ‘The All-In’ The highlight video usually comes in around anything from 5 to 10 mins and the ceremony and speeches are however long they are. People like to talk and we are here for it! You’ll get a full representation as it happened on the day. The All In includes the evening time as well, so you get your first dance, the evening reception, entertainment and any dodgy dancing that goes in!

Obviously we think having a wedding videographer is one of the best decisions you can make when it comes to your wedding. Head over to our about page to see why. Contact us here for a more detailed quote on pricing.

Can we choose our own music for the video?

In essence no, sorry. Copyright mainly, but also, no.

All music is copyrighted in order to protect the artist(s); as it should be. Any music that is used in any paid video service, or publicly shared video, needs to be licensed and herein lies the legal bit. Music from mainstream artists can be licensed but let’s face it, you’re going to be paying tens of thousands for its use. Universal Records are not cheap. At Swoon, we have a constantly updated library of music which we pay annually for. You’ll never get a copyright strike for any music we use in your wedding films, and if you ever have a flag on any social media platform with regards to the music used, we can provide its licence immediately.

We both have a background in entertainment. We generally spend hours poring over musical choices to ensure we select the pieces that fit your day, just right. Your wedding films are created with these musical choices creating the foundation. Your day, the imagery, the smiles and the hugs are what will make your film. The music just elevates it and we don’t need Ed Sheeran for that!

Can we request changes to the edit?

We like to think as you’re reading these FAQ’s it’s because you like our style. Which is great because that’s half the battle. As you can imagine, a Wedding edit takes a great deal of time. Time we love to spend as we love to create. A good portion of this time is spent watching and re-watching short clips, short sections and the films as a whole. When we export and send a Wedding Film to one of our couples (be it a teaser trailer or even an extended highlight), we know it’s the most perfect it can be. We know our style and we promise nothing less.

Requests to change the style of the film won’t be accepted as we feel this is why you’re choosing us. That said, should you wish for re-edits to individual clips, for example to remove certain clips or to request if we have an alternative clip, then this is absolutely fine for an additional fee.

Any edit requests must be made within 7 days of receipt of the Wedding Films. As we do not keep raw footage (due to the nature of file size for such high quality video), any requests for changes after this time can not be guaranteed as there’s every possibility we will no longer have the clips to edit.

Do you have backups - is our footage safe?

Our RAW footage is backed up for the entirety of the creation of your wedding film. After we have delivered your film/s to you and the mandatory 14 days have passed we reserve the right to delete your RAW footage. We will always keep the edits.

While we are in the creative process we  have double backups including off site cloud storage for all of our cameras. Here at Swoon, the security of the footage of your day is of paramount importance. We don’t take any chances.

Can we obtain RAW film footage?

Generally, we don’t provide RAW footage. However, should you literally want everything we shoot on the day, we can provide a timeline of cleaned-up clips from everything that was shot. This is for an additional price.

Will the video use dialogue from the day or just music?

We aim to include the best bits from your day in whatever package you choose. This will include audio as we like to feature some parts of the audio in our highlight videos. This may not apply to every highlight video that we produce as it’s a creative choice but we always record it.

We will discreetly mic up some members of the wedding party so we have the best quality audio that we can capture.

How long will it take you to edit the wedding film(s)?

Our turnaround is generally quick compared to most of our peers. That said, we take pride in our edits even though it’s a relatively long process. We don’t like to rush, everyone knows you can’t rush perfection! If you have booked a Teaser Trailer Add-on, we will deliver this within a week of your wedding. We find this is a perfect time as the wedding is still fresh in your minds and it’s a lovely thing to share on social media with your guests.

Following that, we will have the remaining edited video(s) with you within 6-8 weeks via our dedicated online streaming platform.

How is the final film delivered?

We deliver digitally. You will be sent a unique link to your wedding library of videos (think Netflix for your wedding). Your library will be accessible on mobile device, laptop/computer and smart TV. The interface is very simple and will guide you every step of the way from the moment you access it. This will include a fool-proof way to stream to your smart TV/access the library with the dedicated app.

This same link can be shared with your friends and family and can be password protected should you wish.

Furthermore, all videos in your library can be downloaded directly to whichever device you’re on for local storage or uploading to social media.

Who owns the copyright to the final video(s)?

Swoon Wedding Films will own the copyright of your wedding film/s. This is industry standard. What you are granted, along with the digital films (both downloadable and streaming), is an ‘in-perpetuity license’ for unlimited distribution. In short, you can share it however and wherever you like.

How long do you keep the footage for?

A typical day’s wedding filming takes up between 60Gb and 150Gbs of storage space, which is a lot and not something we can keep forever, unfortunately. Your RAW footage will be deleted after 30 days of delivery of your final edits. We will always keep all finished edits.
